Explanation:
(This amendment requests $125,000 from the general fund each year of the biennium for the Volunteer Firefighters' and Rescue Squad Service Awards Fund. This fund, established by the legislature in 1999 and managed by the VRS, collects funds from volunteers who choose to join the fund, the squads of the volunteers who contribute on behalf of the volunteer as well as any general fund that maybe appropriated into the fund. The VRS invests these funds on behalf of the volunteers. The Appropriation Act provides the VRS $78,000 in general funds each year for administrative cost related to the fund but no general fund has been appropriated for the Fund itself. There is approximately $1 million in the Fund.) |
