11-29-05 Letter from Leroy Rountree Hassell, Sr., Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, to the Honorable William J. Howell, Speaker of the House of Delegates and The Honorable John H. Chichester, Senator of Virginia:
"As you are aware, the General Assembly of Virginia requested that the Judicial Council of Virginia make a recommendation for the establishment of a system of family courts in Virginia. I have received the report from a subcommittee of the Judicial Council of Virginia. I have significant concerns regarding the implementation of the system of family courts as recommended by the subcommittee of the Judicial Council of Virginia. Therefore, I am unable to make a recommendation to the General Assembly as of this date.
I plan to study the report and meet with Govemor-Elect Kaine and members of the General Assembly after the 2006 legislative session to discuss this matter further". |
